Trump Is Right - Citizenship Is A Privilege

As an immigrant and naturalized U.S. Citizen, I've been writing and speaking about this idea throughout the 2024 Presidential cycle.

Trump is back in hot water (was he ever not) with liberals and the mainstream media after he was asked about the idea of ending Birthright Citizenship on NBC this weekend.

President-elect Donald Trump told Kristen Welker, “we have to end” birthright citizenship in the U.S. during an exclusive interview with Meet the Press.

Yet, this idea has been around since at least the GOP Presidential primary, when I supported it in my first ever op-ed with Young Voices published in The American Conservative, titled “Citizenship Is a Privilege”, and have since defended it appearing on an ideologically diverse range of shows from the Federalist Radio Hour and Moving Forward with Young Voices (at the 21 minute mark here) back in 2023 …

… to being THE conservative voice on immigration on a panel of Gen Z voters put together by Al Jazeera just before the 2024 election.

Trump’s views on immigration are a key reason why he won an overwhelming majority of electoral votes in last month’s presidential contest, and the issue was the Democrats’ Achilles Heel, just as I predicted in October of 2023 it would be.

Now, Trump’s got a mandate to deliver on immigration on the path to Making America Great Again.
